Overview
Haiku is an original deck-building card game played against an AI opponent. You start with a small deck of Coppers and Embers. Over the course of the game you buy better cards, build an engine, and race to accumulate the most Victory Points before the supply runs out. Every game uses a different set of 10 kingdom cards โ€” chosen together by you and the AI in the Draft Phase.
Draft Phase
Before the game starts, you and the AI build the kingdom supply together through a draft. Each round reveals 4 cards from a pool of 32. You each vote for the cards you want in the supply. Only cards both players vote for make it in. The draft continues until 10 kingdom cards are selected.

Voting rules: Vote for 2+ cards per round and there's no penalty. Vote for only 1 card and you lose 1pt from your game score. Vote for none and you lose 2pts. Hit -20 penalty points total and you forfeit the draft โ€” the AI wins before the game even starts.

Veto: You have 1 veto per draft. Use it to permanently remove a card from the pool โ€” it won't appear again this game. A vetoed card does not count as a skipped vote.

Auto-includes: Some cards come in pairs. Draft Warlord and Deadfall is automatically added to the supply. Draft Banshee and Redemption is automatically added. These counter cards keep the game balanced.
Game Phase
Each turn has three phases:

Action Phase: You start with 1 Action. Play Action cards from your hand to gain extra Actions, draw cards, earn coins, or attack your opponent. You can keep chaining Actions as long as you have Actions remaining.

Buy Phase: Play Treasure cards (Copper, Silver, Gold) to generate coins, then spend them to buy cards from the supply. You start with 1 Buy per turn โ€” some cards give you extra Buys.

Cleanup: All cards in your hand and play area go to your discard pile. Draw 5 new cards. Your turn ends.

Deck cycling: When your deck runs out, shuffle your entire discard pile into a new deck. Every card you've ever bought will eventually cycle back to your hand.
Winning
The game ends when the Pyre pile is empty, or when any 3 supply piles run out. At that point both players count Victory Points across their entire deck โ€” hand, discard, draw pile, and played area all count.

Victory cards: Ember (1VP), Blaze (3VP), Pyre (6VP).
Curses: -1VP each. Gained when the AI plays Banshee against you.
Dynamic VP cards: Abundance (1VP per 10 cards in deck), Tribute (1VP per Blaze you have), Mosaic (2VP per 5 differently-named cards), Luminary (2VP), Sanctum (1VP).

The player with the most VP wins. Ties go to the player with fewer turns taken.
Strategy tips
Balance villages and terminals: Village-type cards (+2 Actions) let you play more cards per turn. Terminal cards (Foundry, Banshee, Warlord) consume your action and can't be chained without a village. Aim to have at least as many village-type cards as terminals.

Don't buy Victory cards too early: Pyre and Blaze are dead cards in your hand during the game. Flood your deck with them too soon and your engine stalls. Build economy first.

Trash your weak cards: Transmute, Alchemy, and Smelter let you trash Coppers and Embers โ€” removing deadweight makes your deck faster.

Watch the supply: The game can end suddenly when 3 piles empty. Keep an eye on low-count piles and pivot to VP buying before the game ends without you.
Card pool highlights
๐Ÿชบ Nest
Loads an egg onto the Ember pile. The next player to buy an Ember rolls the lottery โ€” win and Phoenix (+2 cards, +2 actions, +1 coin, +1 buy) hatches into your discard.
๐Ÿชค Deadfall
Auto-included when Warlord is drafted. Set aside with 4 tracking cards (3 blanks, 1 trigger). When Warlord hits you, flip cards โ€” hit the trigger to cancel the attack and steal the Warlord.
โ™Ÿ๏ธ Poisoned Piece
Play 1: choose 3 of 4 bonuses (+card, +action, +coin, +buy). Play 2: choose 2. Play 3+: random 1. Resets each turn โ€” use Echo or Villages to play it multiple times.
โœจ Redemption
Auto-included when Banshee is drafted. Trash a Curse from your hand: +1 card, +1 action, +1 coin, +1 VP. The Curse returns to the supply. Essential counter to Banshee attacks.
โš”๏ธ Warlord
+2 coins. Forces your opponent to discard down to 3 cards in hand. Powerful economy combined with hand disruption. Countered by Deadfall.
๐Ÿ‘ป Banshee
Play 1: +1 card. Play 2: +2 cards + opponent gains Curse. Play 3+: +3 cards + Curse. Escalates every time you play it. Countered by Redemption.
๐Ÿ‘‘ Echo
Play an Action card from your hand twice. Costs only 1 Action total. Doubles the effect of any card โ€” particularly powerful with Foundry, Banshee, or Poisoned Piece.
๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Quarry
+1 card, +2 actions. Optionally trash itself for +2 coins. Trashing is permanent and one-way โ€” only useful when you have enough villages and need the coins.
